2007-2008 Season

The first year of LURPS saw it’s first tournament in February of 2008. Although only two tournaments were held in this year, a lot of fun (and beer) was had by all.

First Tournament

27th February 2008 – Old Bar, Leeds University Union

The first tournament went on with a spectacular atmosphere and some very nice games of Rock Paper Scissors taking place. Huge thanks to our 13 athletes for coming and taking part in the first of what will be many LURPS tournaments. Special congratulations go out to Clare North for being the first champion and earning a copy of Oceans Eleven on DVD. Well done to Nick Lowry for a very powerful second place and earning two bars of Asda’s own brand chocolate. Third place went to Marcus Gardner and with that honour he earned one bar of chocolate.

Second Tournament

16th April 2008 – Old Bar, Leeds University Union

Although the turnout for tournament two was smaller than the first, it was still a fantastic event with everyone showing extreme grit and determination to take home the winnings. Congratulations to Marcus Gardner for winning the Invalid Bear, Mark Pinnock for taking second place, and Aimee Bontoft for taking home the noodles. Because of the number of participants, those who didn’t survive the first round have been given points as if they did, and those who didn’t quite make it in time to participate have been given Participant Points.
